The Arts

The Arts are integral to our holistic approach to learning at Southern Cross Catholic College. The college offers a rich creative curriculum across The Arts subjects, including Drama, Media, Music, Visual Art as well as co-curricular opportunities in Music, Dance and Speech and Drama.

All students from Prep to Year 7 participate in curriculum based primary and secondary Music, Drama, Media and Visual arts classes. 

In 2020, we established our Music Immersion Program for all Year 4 to Year 6 students, where they learn an orchestral band or string instrument. Students can audition for the Music Excellence Program for Year 7 and 8. 

From Year 8 to Year 10, students study arts subjects of their choice through the elective program and in their senior years of 11 and 12, students can elect to study:

• Drama (General)
• Music (General) and Music Extension (Year 12 only)
• Visual Art (General)
• Media in Practice
• Visual Arts in Practice.
