First Nations Education
At Southern Cross Catholic College, our vision inspires us to live compassionately, courageously and justly so that every student may grow in their ability to Love, to Serve and to Shine — through Mary to Jesus.
As a College built on Bindal Country, we are deeply committed to honouring the wisdom, traditions and culture of First Nations Peoples. Guided by our dedicated First Nations Education professionals, we walk alongside our students to build cultural understanding, foster respect, and nurture a spirit of reconciliation. Their presence and leadership enrich our community and ensure that our shared story remains grounded in truth, tradition, and hope for the future.
We also look to the future through the Emerging Leaders Program, supported by Catholic Education Townsville. This initiative empowers young people to grow in confidence, character and courage, equipping them with the skills to lead with integrity in their school, their community, and beyond. Informed by the Southern Cross Way, our Emerging Leaders learn not just what leadership looks like, but how it feels and sounds when lived out in service to others.
Together, these programs ensure that every student at SCCC is supported to shine their light brightly, guided by the example of Mary, Help of Christians, and strengthened by the enduring wisdom of the First Peoples of this land.
