Pastoral Care
At Southern Cross Catholic College, Pastoral Care is central to everything we do. We are committed to nurturing the wellbeing, personal growth, and sense of belonging for every student, recognising that learning thrives in a supportive and caring environment.
Our Pastoral Care program operates across both Primary and Secondary settings, providing age-appropriate support that meets the social, emotional and spiritual needs of students at every stage of their schooling.
In Primary, this includes building foundational skills in resilience, empathy and cooperation, while creating a safe and inclusive environment where young learners feel valued and connected.
In Secondary, Pastoral Care focuses on guiding students through the challenges and opportunities of adolescence, supporting their development as responsible, compassionate and confident individuals.
Pastoral Care at SCCC is delivered through Pastoral Leaders and dedicated teachers, Guidance Counsellors, and specialist support staff, working together to provide guidance, mentoring, and programs that promote wellbeing and positive relationships.
Students engage in activities, workshops, and House-based initiatives that promote teamwork, community spirit, and a strong sense of identity within the College.
SCCC’s Pastoral Care program also features our Year Level retreats for students in year 6-12. These days are designed to provide students the chance to pause, reflect, and grow in their faith journey. Each retreat is designed to meet the needs of the year group, combining prayer, activities, and discussion that help students deepen their relationship with God and strengthen their connections with one another. These experiences are a meaningful part of College life, building community, resilience, and a strong sense of Catholic identity.
By integrating Pastoral Care into the daily life of the College, we ensure that every student feels seen, supported, and empowered to Love, Serve and Shine - academically, socially, and personally.
